ABOUT
Jodi Craig is a Canadian born artist who primarily focuses on realism. She grew up on the prairies and developed a love for art, learning how to draw and paint, at an early age. Although her career was not as an artist, her passion for painting was reawakened through portrait classes at the Toronto School of Art in Toronto and Emily Carr School of Art & Design while living in Vancouver. She currently is part of the Welch Street Studio group in North Vancouver.
Her work is largely in oil paint and driven by inspiration drawn from people, places and things in the dynamic world around her. The current focus of her work lies in the realm of realism, where she strives to replicate the intricate patterns of the human face in portraiture and those found in nature with precision and depth using mathematical principals. Her artwork borders on hyperrealism yet has a 'Pop' art feel.
Exploring a wider array of subjects in the people, places and things categories lies ahead in future works using diverse interpretative genres such as abstract, impressionism, and mixed media.
